About This Spot

Stepping into Shrodi's - Cucina di Maria feels like finding a quiet corner of Italy nestled right on Saltsburg Road. The quaint stone building, embraced by a thriving basil garden, invites you to slow down and settle in. Here, the rhythm of the evening is unhurried and warm—perfect for savoring meaningful moments with close company or quietly reflecting over a thoughtfully prepared meal.

This is a place where the art of Italian cooking is lovingly honored through fresh, handmade pasta and time-honored family recipes. The atmosphere carries a gentle attentiveness; staff greet you with a familiarity that suggests this isn’t just a restaurant, but a gathering spot rooted in tradition and heartfelt hospitality. It’s the kind of meal that unfolds naturally — from the first sip of iced tea or a well-crafted cocktail at the bar, to the comforting taste of a rich Carbanara or the subtle herbaceous touch of garden-fresh Caprese paired with delicate prosciutto.

Every visit here is a quiet discovery. The menu feels like a carefully curated tribute to the seasons and the kitchen’s heritage, inviting exploration rather than rushing choices. Whether it’s the savory warmth of a wedding soup made fresh that day or the satisfying textures of perfectly cooked pork loin wrapped in bacon, there’s a sense of home in every bite. Service sways gracefully around any quiet moments, attentive yet gentle, allowing the experience to feel both personal and relaxed.

Shrodi’s is less about bustling dining and more about a shared appreciation for real flavors and unpretentious comfort. Patrons find themselves returning not just for the food, but for the sincere connection to a family’s story and the peaceful space it creates amid the hum of everyday life.

Authentic Italian food, made with love and care. The fresh pasta is absolutely amazing, no comparison to the normal dried pasta we are all used to. Staff is super friendly and responsive, drinks are plentiful and the food is *chef's kiss*.

A Taste of Italy in Plum – Shrodi’s is a Must-Try! Shrodi’s - Cucina di Maria delivers an authentic Italian dining experience that’s right up there with the Pittsburgh elite. Now, let’s talk about the food—absolutely incredible! The spaghetti and meatballs in Sunday sauce is a delicious classic. The pasta is perfectly cooked, the meatballs are tender and full of flavor, and the Sunday sauce? Rich, slow-cooked perfection with just the right balance of sweetness and tang (and delicious sausage). Every bite transports you to an old-school Italian kitchen where tradition and love go into every dish. Then there’s the chicken parmesan—hands down one of the best in Pittsburgh. The chicken is lightly breaded, crispy on the outside, yet juicy and tender on the inside. Topped with just the right amount of melted cheese and marinara sauce, it’s a dish that keeps you coming back for more. Whether you're a Plum Boro local or just passing through, Shrodi’s is the kind of place that makes you feel like family while serving up some of the best Italian food around. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

What is better than a quaint stone building restaurant with a Basil garden thriving as you walk up? Well, a family tradition and staff who all welcome you as family .. yes, we know the family history of Shrodi. The menu was plentiful and very reasonable. The selections took much time to choose and with the outstanding help of Natalie, we made our picks! What is cool is my mom is not a big eater anymore and chose the veal piccata with a side of pasta and salad off the senior menu which is very clever to have available and still had enough leftovers for lunch today. The stuffed banana peppers with Sunday sauce were amazing. Three served generously and one went home! Veal piccata was delish with a nice zest of lemon. Large portions! Also a side of spaghetti with the sauce of your choice, which after tasting the Sunday sauce I wanted more! House salad with their house dressing to add according to our taste. Many kalamata Olives. Cherry tomatoes Fresh mushrooms. And the freshest mixed greens Our Irishman picked his favorite penne with vodka sauce. It was the best he’s ever had. I have to agree! The added prosciutti and seasonings were truly delicious. The chef is masterful in the kitchen and believe me, every mouth watering taste was worth it! We enjoyed our beverages from the talented bartender. Natalie was fabulous and attentive to us from hello to see you again soon goodbye. Oh I almost forgot to mention, they are building a bocce court out back to really add to its authentic Italian tradition and flair. It’s a little bit of Heaven tucked away in Penn Hills! Do not pass it up! Can’t wait to bring my family and friends! Continued success be yours! We love a true Italian restaurant using family recipes of your family. Thank you.

Wonderful service, great atmosphere for a great breakfast. If you’re tired of shadyside crowds, sick of being your own waiter at the galley come eat here. Get the eggs and bacon.
